Balloon chasing

Last evening, while eating dinner, we saw two hot air balloons out the window. We grabbed the camera, but not in time to catch the red, orange and yellow balloon too -- it had sunk too low -- they were both about to land so we hopped in the van and chased them.

The orange balloon landed elsewhere and we missed the good shots, so we continued to follow this one here. The people were so cool and invited all the neighborhood kids to help pack the balloon. I love the shot of the kids jumping on the sack to get any remaining air out. Their little guy worked the crowd and handed out cards.

I think that's a genius way to promote balloon rides -- land in a subdivision -- how cool is that?

So cool.

Now I just need to figure out what I did to make the red pick up as purple on the ground shots. See how the people's shirts and stop sign are still red, but the balloon? Not red -- purple. Hmmmm.

You are having way too much fun this summer! My eyes are showing green, but actually they are blue. They just look green after your last two posts.

Living large for sure. And to think, we almost didn't follow that balloon. We've seen them land before and usually the people like you to hang back -- it was so cool to get in there.

Propane stinks. I wonder if the smell drifts up and away when they float, or if the whole ride is breathtaking for the eyes and nuthin but bad fart stank for the nose.

How fun! And the photos are absolutely beautiful! So colorful!

When we lived in Philly, our neighbor was a skydiver and every year they'd throw a party and do a skydive show. It was awesome!

Thanks for sharing!

OMG that looks like fun. Very cool. And I can just picture you chasing that balloon. Like storm chasers or something. Sounds like a blast. The chase alone must have been thrilling.

Kari -- Exactly like storm chasers. At one point we caught up with their own chase team.

David -- Thanks for stopping by. I'm flattered to be added to your blogroll -- I enjoyed your blog and those of others I linked to from your posts.

I just got the Cannon D-30 and have only done the two posts with it -- very happy to be back into a good camera. We had a nice film cannon that went by the wayside when we got the little digital -- what a difference several hundred dollars and the great lenses can make!

And digital -- I have 75 pictures of the same flower in my garden from fooling around with the aperture and other settings.

Cheers back at ya,

Kim
