Fun stuff
More painted things. I finished the lamp to go with the "Cinderella" table. This bookshelf is one of my favorites. I have this little baby/toddler chair that I will paint to match -- between that, the knobs and bookshelf -- wouldn't that make a great baby room? A room fit for a royal prince or princess -- just need some golden or ruby bedding...

i am totally impressed. where did you learn to do all of that? or are you just super girl? i love, love, love that bookshelf. and the knobs are awesome!!
can i come over for a class?
Thanks. Creativity seems to be the silver lining in the "raised by crazy people" cloud. (my younger sister is martha stewart and a professional photographer, my older sister paints people's personal mandala's for a living)
When I get enough knobs done, I'll create a web page and sell them. Custom too -- only $12 bucks each, which is a steal for hand painted, one of a kind knobs.
For do it yourself types, wood drawer pulls at any craft store or home depot near you -- paint em up. Knobs are a great kid project too.
Kim's painting 101:
My personal motto is: Keep going until it looks good.
That motto cropped up out of things not always turning out the way I intended. As long as I have an inspiration and idea of what I want, I can get started and I stay open to veering from my original idea if the aesthetics aren't coming together.
Most helpful bits of advice I've received thus far: "You gotta have the right tool for the job." = pay the money for the good brushes.
"Stay loose" = Don't force your hand to draw, let your hand draw. try it -- go draw scrolls -- first force the line and scroll end by pushing the pencil along where you want it to go. second time, hold the pencil firm enough, but pull it along in the general direction -- you have to commit to the stroke and don't think too much -- just swoop it. If the stroke doesn't lay down enough lead (or paint), just gloss over it again.
There -- there's my blog post for the day, I'm going back to bed -- I'm still on the saltines only plan.
thanks!!
hope you feel better soon!
These are wonderful.
