Am I the only one who thinks cilanto tastes like soap?
Ivory liquid, to be specific.
Maybe if you had a mom like mine, you would know, and you would stop putting it in things -- so I could enjoy my salad mix, salsa, etc. without the soap element.

im not a big cilantro fan... maybe just a smidge in my salsa, but that's it. it's too......i dont know...green or grassy or something for me.
Everybody I know hates cilantro, I personally like it. Though I have overdone it and not liked it..
Honey grows it for me every year though.
Okay, I hadn't thought of it as tasting like Ivory Soap. But, I'm not a fan. I do like some in my salsa, but when I can TASTE it, really taste it, I'm done. In fact my husband stopped & got take out the other night, one of our favorite little places & got one of my favorite salads, & I have never noticed in it before, but they made it wrong and ALL I could taste was cilantro. I couldn't eat it. YUCK!!

I googled cilantro -- because I've got nuthin but time -- and there are cilantro hating societies.
I'm not going to join or anything, I'm just glad it's not just me.
Remind me not to make you homemade cilantro pesto.. I would never have to host another dinner party if I served that.

We use lots of Mexican cilantro (shadon bene is the local name) and it's great in fish and sauces and such. Don't think it's the same as yours.
My mother has started putting fresh basil from her garden in salads and I absolutely hate the taste! It's fine when you cook with it, but it's just too overpowering in the fresh stuff.
Doesn't taste like soap, though...
I am a HUGE cilantro fan. Send yours my way. :)
