The fun part

The "broken petal" flowers. Winnie was very specific and drew many a fine example for me to follow. She wanted flowers like the ones in her Ali and Aj cd insert. The scrolls are trying to be the new graphic art that is cropping up the sides of things these days. Melek's blog template is a fine example of inspiration.

"Oh, that's the magenta? It looks red," says Winnie of how these pictures look on my blog.

They look neon on Rich's computer...

Wow, Thanks!!!

This has been fun to post the process. Thanks for the positive feedback -- so cool.

When I get the bed and window treatments done I will post a finished room picture. I will be hosting my grandpa this weekend, so the project is on pause.

Kate!

Welcome back to blogland -- I was sending anti-sniffle thoughts your way. Didn't know you had spring break too, how wonderful that it coincided with your being sick.

Crap! My thoughts are still stuck in Winnie's room. I think I may be more excited about her room than she is.. she also needs the pink violin I posted a few weeks back.

My friends think I should be a personal shopper..or I could finish my interior design degree..

Don't worry -- I'll still post the final photos, or progress, there's that desk to paint too...

omg love the scrolly flowers and vines... I have something like that in mind for whenever we ever get our own place and I get to decorate :-) So, how do you actually draw on the wall? Just use a paintbrush? Do you draft it out with a pencil? (i'm clueless, LoL!)

just a paint brush. I get a multi-pack from a craft store, but I use the medium size most often. quality brushes pay off, the cheaper ones have stray bristles or are too firm to make a good curve line.

I don't pencil it first, I did once and I scrolled outside the lines one too many times -- it's easier/cleaner to just do right on the wall. I usually draw on paper first, a general idea of what I'm going to paint -- the ideas don't always flow when I just wing it.

again, I say -- it's all about a good brush.
