What kind of person could resist that kind of factoid? I think she's a robot

One of my best friends does not want to know what Dr. Oz had to say about parasites whilst covering the topic one day on Oprah.

Even after I informed her that it involved tape and anuses, still, no interest -- if anything, a further resolve to not know.

Now, I understand not being able to put the genie back in the bottle and all, but--tape and anuses.

No, not tape worms, but I'm so glad you asked!

Some kind of parasite that makes your butt itch. Apparently, a good percentage of children may have them -- I think he may have said 20%, but don't quote me because all previous information went cloudy when he said there is an easy way to find out -- that's right -- THE TAPE, ON THE ANUS!!!!

The itchy part comes in when the mom parasite (tape worms were mentioned on the same show, but I think they stay in) -- when the parasite comes out the pooper to lay eggs. You stick a little tape on your kids butt, then take it in to the Dr. and have her check for eggs.

Okay, this is fun on so many levels -- fracturing your child's personality not withstanding, I want to take that tape in and keep a straight face while doing so -- I don't think I can (even if it's a fake, no actual anus involved, peice of tape) -- I think I'm going to have to dare someone to take the tape to someone who is not at all into alternative diagnostics, I want the reaction shot.

I'm not into Punked shows or anything, but I can't get how this conversation would go, I want to see it.

In the meantime, I can't get my butt to stop itching.

And now you know.

ok i gotta know do you put it on and rip it off quick? should you use clear packing tape...what if the poor kid already has... umm you know hair? Should you then wax the rest just to be sure there are no parasites in the forest???

Whatever the kid is going to be traumitized...where should we send donations for the therapy that will required? Scarred for life I tell you, scarred for life..

Do share the info.

As for the tape, you stick it on and keep it there for the night, so the mom worm thing can come out and do her egg laying thing -- so no pooping in the night I guess.

Grown ups can have them too, but he said the tape thing for the kids.
